How to Make Healthy, Homemade Salad Dressings!

Eating salads full of healthy, life-giving dark, leafy greens in a huge part of a SuperLife. But if you are piling on processed, additive-filled, pro-inflammatory salad dressings you find in stores, it messes up all those alkalizing health benefits you’re getting from the salad! Instead, I highly recommend you make your own!

Below is one of my favorite healthy, homemade salad dressing recipes – and it’s really simple! It is so easy that it just takes a few minutes to whip up! You can quadruple this recipe (add 4x each ingredient) for large parties or to use the whole week for you!

You can also get creative and start making your own new favorites using this healthy, homemade salad dressing formula:

1.  The secret to a good homemade salad dressing is to start with 1/2 cup of a cup of a good cold-pressed oil (sesame oil, walnut oil, avocado oil, extra virgin olive oil, etc) from a good source you trust.

2.  Then add 1/4 cup of an acidic juice or vinegar (lemon juice, Braggs liquid aminos, Braggs apple cider vinegar, balsamic vinegar, orange juice, lime juice, rice vinegar, grapefruit juice, etc). Pick these products from good, organic, fair-trade companies you trust.  The links in the list above take you to some of my favorite, trusted companies. You order online (and I’ll get a small affiliate fee to fund further research and resources for you) or you can find them at a store near you.

3.  Finally, add in a pop of flavor with your favorite spices or ingredients! For example, try Italian seasoning, any fresh or powdered herb, freshly chopped garlic or garlic powder, freshly chopped onion or powdered onion, red pepper flakes, fresh cracked black pepper (which has amazing health benefits and pairs well with turmeric!), tahini, Himalayan sea salt, and more. Do this to taste, and add any flavor elements at little at a time. You can always add more, but it is hard to fix once you’ve added too much!

The healthy, homemade salad dressing combinations you can make with this formula are endless and can be very simple! All the way down to just whisking together extra virgin olive oil with a squeeze of lemon and dash of salt and pepper!  The recipe below is almost just as simple.

KITCHEN UTENSILS

  • Small bowl
  • Whisk (optional)

WHOLESOME INGREDIENTS

(Note: Use all organic, fresh ingredients if possible)

Makes 1 serving

2 tablespoons of olive oil

1 tablespoon Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar

1 tsp Italian seasoning

1/2 teaspoon of Himalayan Sea Salt

1/2 teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper

STEPS TO SOMETHING DELICIOUS

Place all dressing ingredients into a small bowl and whisk together well with a whisk or a fork (always use what you have!) Drizzle the dressing on your salad when its ready!
Note: you can add a tablespoon of honey to make this a sweeter dressing!
