Pomegranates, one of the oldest known fruits, are a nutrient dense, antioxidant rich powerhouse! Studies have found that the pomegranate is one of the most beneficial fruits for overall good health. This fruit is also showing promise for protecting against depression and osteoporosis, and this list of benefits is just the highlights you will get from this antioxidant-rich pomegranate green tea recipe!
When you drink green tea, your body is being loaded with polyphenols such as flavonoids and catechins, which function as powerful antioxidants with super disease-preventing properties, including a decreased risk of cancer, type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, infection, cardiovascular disease, and more.
The mint in this recipe adds an extra health boost, along with a delicious flavor. That’s what makes this pomegranate green tea recipe so “super”!
(Note: Use all organic, fresh ingredients if possible)
Makes 1 serving
1/4 cup pomegranate seeds
2 cups brewed green tea
6-10 large mint leaves
4-6 large ice cubes
Brew the green tea according to instructions on the box using distilled or reverse osmosis pure water. Once brewed, pour into a 24 oz. Mason Jar or small pitcher. Place in refrigerator for 30 minutes or until cool. Once cooled, add the mint leaves, slightly crushing and twisting them in your hands before you do. Then lightly crush the pomegranate seeds on a cutting board with a spoon or by using the side of a large knife and then add to green tea. Place in the refrigerator to cool. For the best flavor, allow the blend to infuse for at least 2-4 hours. Sometimes you can’t wait that long though!
Once infused, add ice (if desired), pour into a glass, and enjoy!! If you want to make a large batch to share, just double the recipe. It will last for up to 2 days in the refrigerator.
Fun Tip: To get all the amazing benefits from this pomegranate green tea, make sure you eat the pomegranate seeds at the bottom!
